READING:We are continuing to read the story "The Gardener". We are working on vocabulary, sequence, comprehension, using context clues, and talking about mood and picture clues. We will be completing webs and filling in graphic organizers. We will also be talking about letter writing. We will be reading a supplement book called "City Green" to do some letter writing and comparisons between the two books. Reading calendars have CHANGED for the REST of the YEAR!!!! The students are to read a total of 4 reads every week and still turn in calendars on MONDAYS. This will get them ready for the requirements for 4th grade.
WRITING:
We are practicing for the OAA with small packets in our classroom. I would like to see the students going on Study Island nightly. We continue to work on writing Weekend Reports every Monday and Squiggles every Wednesday. We are focusing on writing a complete sentence with a capital letter, a complete thought, and an endmark. We are also learning to use graphic organizers to help with our prewrites. With every sentence we write, we try to think of one good detail sentence to add to our stories. The kids LOVE winning Squiggle Puppy...We look for GREAT details, CORRECT capitalization and punctuation, and a great story! :)
SPELLING:
Don't forget to study your words... our test is on Wednesday. This week's words:
can't there's I'm BONUS: synonym
didn't it's you're antonym

If you're on a challenge list... make sure you check your agenda for the word list. All word lists are posted weekly in the agenda.
MATH:
We are doing a practice OAA math practice packet and going over it in class. They are asked to go on Study Island nightly to complete math ribbons. We are learning how to use and identify fractions. We are comparing equivalent fractions, and also learning how to write and identify mixed numerals. We are continuing to work on learning our multiplication facts. We are taking timed tests every other day. The students will have their completed tests in their homework folder each night. Continue to watch for Homelinks to come home in the homework folder. We are learning different extensions for multiplications and learning how to use factors and fact families. Also, we are using parentheses to answer multiplication problems! The test over Chapter 7 Multiplication math extensions will be on FRIDAY. Keep working hard and start completing the study island math ribbons!

HEALTH: (currently teaching Mrs. Snyder's students)
We are studying about safety with the students. They are learning about indoor safety, outdoor safety, pedestrian safety, and fire safety. The students are reading and working on Chapter 9. They will be taking all the information that they learn and applying it to a safety booklet they will create the last week of the 3 weeks together. Our test over Chapter 9 will be on April 20th. A study packet will come home on the 17th of April. Thanks for helping with the FIRE SAFETY plan for your houses!
